Holistic Diet Definition
By definition a holistic diet is really just a diet that take into consideration the body as a “whole”.
Is our body as physically sound and healthy as it should be? Mentally or emotionally sound?
Food is a huge factor when it comes to overall health.
Me, being someone who was once obese let me just say that Holistic foods and proper nutrition are more important than you think.
This lifestyle takes into account your whole person and encompasses a healthy eating lifestyle.
Instead of filling the body with foods that are adversely effecting the body and mind we can fill it with health supporting rejuvenating foods.
One’s that can nourish your body and eliminates chronic health issues. We can increase our energy and wellbeing or cure obesity like I was able to.
I’ve been able to escape a disease that could have killed me and nearly ruined my life.
But because of these natural “whole foods” or “holistic foods” one’s being provided for human by nature I luck changed.
Non conducive for human health these foods are causing many problems with overall human health.
What Does A Holistic Diet Consist Of?
Mostly we are looking for natural nutrient dense foods but not calories dense.
Say were eating pizza with a massive amount of calories but little to no micronutrients or phytonutrients.
Now I love pizza and that’s ok if you do, its just, we need to practice moderation with these foods while making sure we supplements with better ones as well.
The body receives all the fats, carbs, and protein from those ingredients.
The problem is that we usually receive to many of these “calories” but not enough nutrition.
We are missing vital vitamins, minerals, as well as micronutrients one’s we need for the body to perform optimally.
To much fat is making us gain weight and damaging our health. To many carbs are spiking our blood sugar. Protein from dairy is not complete with amino acids.
On the other side the body needs other special nutrients that it never receives.
We are “overeating” to many harmful foods and not enough Holistic Diet foods.
When we think about these foods what we want is unprocessed and unrefined.
Foods humans have been eating for thousands of years that promote health in many different ways.
Low ingredients foods from nature, have you ever looked at a food label lately?
If it has more than a few simple ingredients changes are it’s not Holistic.
Any easy way for me to understand holistic is just stick to “whole foods”.
1 to 3 ingredients the food is what it is, nothing added just in it’s “whole”, “holistic form“.
Foods not tampered with or made in a lab, unprocessed and unrefined, little to no additives designed by nature for supported health.
Best Holistic Diet
This is a very broad list of foods from vegetables to legumes.
Holistic nutrition outlines unrefined, unprocessed, organic and locally grown whole foods.
In a holistic diet you eat natural food while avoiding highly processed foods as much as possible. Eat things high in fat and sugar in moderation.
When we think “natural foods” think of food that humans ate before the industrial revolution.
The Slow Carb diet is Holistic based diet that I wrote a separate article and one that I like to refer back to constantly for guidance.
Before microwave dinners and Doritos’ we had to eat foods that were available either from hunting and gathering or plating and agriculture.
These are foods designed to be clean not tampered with or produced by anything other than natural ways.
- Whole grains
- Fresh juices (preferably low sugar)
- Herbal teas
- Dark Green vegetables
- Marine algae
- Dark Chocolate (rich in cacao)
I think it makes it easy to understand that these foods are “healthy”.
Almost anyone I’ve ever met knows vegetables are healthy, so think about small things like when deciding on foods.
Remember it’s still possible to eat your favorite foods but this is an attempt to simply limit that amount while we fill that space with holistic diet foods.

Reduce all of these risk factors by sticking to a better healthier lifestyle.
Hard to believe all of these can be effected by our diet but that just how important it is.
We really do become what we eat, I know this first hand suffering from obesity.
This as also important because we also have the ability to change this.
All of these factors above are reduced with a holistic diet.
Improved quality of life while fighting aging and disease.
Eating processed foods gets us closer to these diseases and damages our vital organs like the heart.
We are either getting closer to these diseases or further away, it’s almost that simple.
We help fight the disease with improved nutrition or we help feed them to later come along and blindside us.
How Do You Lose Weight Holistically?
For me personally, I want to tell you that there is really no better way then just adopting a clearer healthier diet.
There an old saying “you cannot outrun a bad diet”. If we are eating to many calories and are storing fat almost no amount of exercise can undo this damage.
Along with that, unhealthy foods are sometimes toxic to our organs while promoting disease and obesity.
I hate to be another person yelling and advocating you to eat better and exercise.
That being said, I was obese and the only honest way it was possible to return from that is just these specific things.
Simple but effective the answer we’re all glancing over but seem to miss.
If you exercise that is a step in the right direction.
As this is good there is still another half we need to improve, and that is all about how and what we decide to eat.
All of these nature food are designed for optimal health.
Being unhealthy is not our normal state and we are designed to be well oiled machines able to endure.
Able to fight diseases and perform tasks with ease the ability to work, run, jump, sleep sound all of the above.
Cut out food that are slowly killing us while making us obese, replace them and watch the weight start to disappear.
Chinese Holistic Medicine For
Chinese Medicine is something I wrote an article on because of the power it has had on me and my body.
While I was losing weight I did tons of research on these powerful holistic medicines all derived out of nature.

The body stores toxins in out fat cells to protect us. The problem is when we lose weight the body need to “rid” itself of these.
What happens most of the time while losing weight is that it slows to a halt quickly.
To heal my body and break through weight-loss plateau’s I took many different types of Holistic Medicines to aid digestion while healing the damage I’d done.
Now I eat primarily a Holistic diet to maintain a healthy body weight and to keep myself in excellent peak condition.
Sometimes supplementing with my favorite Chinese medicines for optimal health.
By now we can figure out that these are really on in the same. Natural nutrition is another approach at health and its the one we need.
What is Holistic Detox?
Ok, think about eating unhealthy food; then think about these foods making us sick and containing toxins.
This is not going to give us the best health we want or the bodies we want.
Just think about what it dies to our insides as well as our organs and health.
When we eat good we then promote health the opposite way strengthening not weakening.
The best way I would suggest is to try vegetable juice something I fell in love with during my journey to health.
Super Greens are great health promoting substances from these healing holistic foods.
If you have trouble eating the foods because you aren’t used to them, some may be hard to eat.
Doing a juice fast/cleanse is a great way but just replacing better foods as meals will do the job as well.
The body will naturally detox itself everyday and these foods all help the body in doing so.
Exercise will help with this and as someone who has use exercise to accomplish my goals it’s a must.
Things can change the only person who can decide is you.

Holistic Approach To Diet And Nutrition
I’m going to be very bold with you and say that it is easier than it seems.
Not because I know better but because for a fact I know that we are all smart enough to know if we are getting “healthy’ or not.
If we know we need to change our bad habits and we want change to happen now is the time.
We can do this with effort we just need the foods and the action of eating better.
This is more of what the food pyramid should look like updated from the 1950’s like we all learned in school before we had a health epidemic.
We have just gotten to far away from our habitual human diets because of the way the food systems works and that’s no specifics persons fault.
That being said we’re the only ones who have the power to change it, change what we pick up and put in our mouths.
We control that and no one can take it away from us. One of the only things we have complete control over is what we eat and how we exercise.
Most of us don’t have a choice in many other aspects of life but not a single person can stop us from getting healthier.
If you asked someone who loved and cares about you if they would want you to be livelier and healthier what would they say?
I think they would agree and support you in wanting to do that.
Start replacing small meals with more nutritious options and start a type of exercise you would love.
