My Story
Hi, I'm Jennifer Patricca, sports dietitian and fellow runner. Several years ago, I had a serious problem going on with my running.
Without going into the full drama, I was training hard for races, but I wasn’t seeing the results that I wanted. I was frustrated and running wasn’t fun anymore. I tried lots of things. I tried running more miles. Added more speed work and cycling 3 times a week. I was always conscious of my weight and I was restricting food even though I was training hard 6 days a week.
I thought if I just lose a few pounds, I will get faster.
But nothing worked.
And then BAM, it happened.
During this difficult time, I was introduced to sports nutrition to fuel my workouts and races to improve my performance. I stopped obsessing over food and calories and started viewing food as a way to fuel my body. I thought to myself, "ya right, can this really work?” I eat pretty healthy. Isn’t that enough?
Well, I’ll tell you right now…. I’m so thankful I opened up my eyes and committed myself to this solution because today I can fuel confidently for training and races. More importantly I have a better relationship with food and my body image.
I ate more and surprisingly, I didn’t gain weight. For the first time in my life, I was actually hitting my PRs without hitting the wall during workouts and races.
Now I am excited to share my knowledge and experiences with you to help you improve your pacing and hit your PR and enjoy running again without GI issues, fatigue and injuries.
I am a registered and licensed dietitian nutritionist with over 19 years experience and I am a marathon and Ironman finisher.
